Collaboration != Innovation, Fleas In A Jar & Introverts Are Not Shy.
I’ve been working on…
- Concerted effort on trying to wrap the test phase of our digital board papers up. We’ve got a date booked in to consider if we’re carrying on or pulling the plug (avoid zombie project status). What constitutes as ‘success’? Have we fixed the original problem we were trying to solve? I think it’s important to keep asking those questions as it’s surprisingly easy to lose sight of the ‘why’.
- I had another ‘Turn The Ship Around!’ session with colleagues — this time focusing on giving control to others, and enabling space for thinking & reflecting rather than just telling people what to do. I did a mini writeup of the book if you’re interested in learning more.
I’ve been reading…
- Liked this comparison of unconference VS conference from Neil Lawrence. (Disclaimer : I am an avid unconference fan)
https://medium.com/@Ox1Digital/as-a-conference-attendee-i-need-to-310968cce64b#.bk4whhckt - A reminder from Paul Taylor that innovation requires more than chucking a load of random people in a room. Sustained experimentation is the order of the day.
https://artplusmarketing.com/why-collaboration-does-not-equal-innovation-d38e51504ede#.16lgozl7c - On a similar theme, this post from reminds us that asking people to ‘think outside the box’ is incredibly difficult when they’ve been in the box for a while. It’s all about jars and fleas!

http://www.thinknpc.org/blog/designing-digitally/ - Co-op Digital did an excellent writeup clarifying what they mean by minimum viable product.

http://corporate-rebels.com/no-one-size-fits-all/ - Leaders need to be vulnerable (aka admit they don’t know everything) to learn and collaborate with those around them. Via Dyfrig Williams.
